Crawl Space Repair Before & After Photos

Susan's crawl space smelled musty and collected water moisture after the last storm. She knew moisture causes mold growth and could damage her home, so she called Ayers for help. Our crew of specialists visited her home to evaluate the crawl space and suggest a solution. They recommended the CleanSpace vapor barrier, designed with antimicrobial material to prevent mold growth. CleanSpace is also installed uninterruptedly to the crawl space floors and walls to eliminate moisture. Susan can't believe how clean her crawl space is!

The crawl space in the before photo was dealing with serious flooding issues. Water was coming in from a variety of places, and as you can see, filling the crawl space. When our system design specialist went out to White Cloud, MI to see the cottage for himself, he found 2 feet of standing water in the crawl space.  The first step was pumping out all of that standing water to prepare for the encapsulation. With the water out of the crawl space, the team installed a full encapsulation system. The white liner seen in the after photo is our CleanSpace vapor barrier. Our barriers are impenetrable by moisture, so it’ll keep out the water that leaks into the crawl space. Water won’t threaten this crawl space again.

When this homeowner called, there were no cracks in his foundation and there was no moisture in the crawl space. However, when he'd had an addition built a few years ago, the contractor laid down a simple sheet of black plastic and he thought, "That's probably not protecting much."

He was right! While it's nicer to walk on than dirt, tarp and other plastic sheeting don't actually do anything to protect the crawl space or the house above it.

This customer was having issues with his crawl space. It has a dirt floor and cinder block walls. He complained about the musty, moldy smell and has no sump pump. Our team resolved his issues by installing our Cleanspace liner and drainage matting. These products ensure no water is able to enter the space and cause that moldy smell and that any water that tries to enter through the walls is directed right to the Smart Drain. Our customer also had vent cover installed to keep that added moisture out that comes in through crawl space windows.

The dirt floor allowed cold air to enter the space and had no insulation to ensure a dry, clean environment. We added a CleanSpace water vapor barrier to ensure no water entered the space as well as a drainage mat to channel water to the sump pump.
