A family in Bridgman, MI, dreamed of creating additional living space in their basement but were constantly battling moisture issues. Their old sump pump and dehumidifier were no match for the water intrusion. The sump pump in the finished part of the basement wasn’t fully enclosed, letting a musty smell linger in the air. Meanwhile, the family had to empty their overworked dehumidifier manually. Water pooling along the wall-floor joint added to their frustration, leaving their plans for a comfortable, functional space on hold.

Determined to solve the problem, the family contacted Ayers. System Design Specialist Chris developed a comprehensive solution tailored to their needs. The Ayers team removed the outdated waterproofing system and relocated the sump pump to the unfinished side of the basement. They installed WaterGuard®, a perimeter drainage system, along the walls of the finished and unfinished sections, ensuring any water entering the space would be redirected to the new TripleSafe™ sump pump. This fully enclosed sump pump handled the moisture effectively and eliminated the damp, musty odor that had plagued their basement.

The family could finally finish the space with a dry, smell-free basement, adding a valuable living area to their home. On the unfinished side, they gained peace of mind knowing their belongings were safely stored without the risk of water damage. Patrick was scooping standing water off his basement floor after every storm. The issue was frustrating and tedious, so he decided to hire professionals and called Ayers for help. We sent a team of specialists to his home, and they recommended replacing his old sump pump with the TripleSafe pump. TripleSafe includes three separate pumps: the primary, a backup, and a battery-powered backup in case of power outages. Patrick loves having more free time and less scooping!

After the last rainfall, Brian noticed water leaking into his basement and running down the walls. He knew this was an issue he couldn't fix, so he called Ayers. Our team of specialists visited his home to evaluate and recommend a solution. Upon inspection, they decided WaterGuard, a drainage piping system, would be the best route. WaterGuard, unlike other drainage pipes, is placed on top of the footing rather than alongside it to prevent clogging. Brian loves having a dry basement!

After noting some water issues were consistently causing trouble in his basement, Patrick made the right decision to call Ayers for some help. Our Ayers System Design Specialist let him know that installing our TripleSafe Sump Pump System in combination with the UltraSump 4 Battery Backup Sump Pump System would be the perfect solution to address this issue. 

The TripleSafe is made up of three sump pumps in total. The first pump will be the one doing most of the work, the second is there in the event the first fails or needs more help, and lastly we get to the battery-operated backup pump system. The UltraSump 4 Battery Backup Sump Pump System consists of an automatic switch that turns on the battery-operated backup pump if water rises above the AC pump operating range. It can remove up to 12,000 gallons of water on a full charge and even has an alarm system in place that sounds off when the backup pump turns on.

Despite many preservative efforts to fix his damp basement, Patrick, a Bridgman homeowner, failed to find a solution. Patrick had repeated water problems, and his internal drainage system continuously got clay, resulting in rock build-ups. After six months of a local plumber's preservative effort to fix the problem, nothing seemed to work. Patrick was eventually unsatisfied with prior solutions and desired to find a solution that would keep his home dry 100% of the time. He finally called Ayers to find out about perimeter drainage options. An Ayers System Design Specialist went to Patrick's house to assess the problem. The team at Ayers determined a multitude of products that would be best. 

Ayers decided that installing two TripleSafe sump pumps into the basement would be the best course of action. The TripleSafe is a sump-pump system that utilizes three different pumps in the same sump-pump liner. The first pump, the lowest in the liner, typically does all of the work. If the first pump can't keep up or there is a failure, the second pump will kick on and begin pumping water. The third pump, hooked to an external battery, will kick on during a power outage and save the day! An electrical job was done to bring power to the pumps. Two outlets on two circuits were run next to the TripleSafes to operate the two bottom pumps. Thus, if a breaker trips on one outlet, the other will still function and continue pumping water. 

Ayers thought it would be crucial to install TrenchDrain. This system was installed in the floor around the perimeter of the basement's interior. This drain allows water to seep in and funnel toward the sump pump. Lastly, downspouts, pipes that drain water away from home, were installed to drain water out of the sump pumps and away from home. Thus, any water that tries to enter the house will no longer be a worry! 

Patrick was thrilled that he could finally find a solution that worked. He no longer needed to worry about water coming into the basement or any other problems that could have arisen. 

John started slowly when it comes to waterproofing, these systems can be overwhelming and expensive sometimes. If you can, it’s important to do what you’re comfortable with on your own time. John previously solved the most pressing problems first and then came back to waterproof the last wall. Our team completed the system with WaterGuard. The WaterGuard drain is designed to capture water seepage through the walls and any leaks along where the floor and the wall meet. It’s large in diameter and is easy to get into making clogging extremely unlikely. On top of that, it is faster, easier, and less expensive than outdoor drains and will be nearly invisible once the concrete is replaced and dried. The WaterGuard Port is also nearly invisible in your lawn when installed and isn’t an obstruction while mowing the lawn or hanging out in the yard. Now John is fully waterproofed and ready to go in his basement, putting any leaks behind him.

Robert and Marlene S. contacted us because their patio with a glass enclosure and hot tub was sinking. They originally noticed the issue because water in the hot tub was not leveled. They had the patio lifted in the past through another company, although it began to settle once again.

We installed the PolyLevel system to raise and stabilize the settled patio while addressing the weak soil issue that originally caused the slab to sink. Several small holes were drilled into the patio and then injected with dense, lightweight polymers. Once injected, the polymers expanded to completely lift the slab back to its original level and had a short cure time of about 15 minutes. We also used NexusPro joint sealer to caulk the cracks in the patio to prevent them from expanding any further.
