Much like our Michigan roads, driveways and sidewalks are often cracking and deforming all throughout the year. Driveways and sidewalks may not be subject to mass amounts of cars and trucks driving on them but soil movement can displace the concrete slabs over time. Once the soil starts moving, concrete begins to crack and move around to create deformities. At Ayers Basement Systems, we recommend using a product called PolyLevel to fix the moving soil under the concrete and bring it back to normal.
PolyLevel is a foam solution that is injected under the concrete slabs to act as a filler between the soil and the concrete slab. The foam then hardens and allows the concrete to rest on solid foam instead of the problem soil beforehand. PolyLevel is minimally invasive, affordable, and quick to cure. If you are having issues with cracking concrete call Ayers for a free estimate!
Dave H. was looking to level the sidewalk in front of his home. The sidewalk had multiple uneven slabs and a few cracks that were caused from the settling concrete. We installed the effective PolyLevel system that used specialized polymers to lift and level the settled slabs. We also used NexusPro joint sealant to caulk the cracks, which prevented them from continuing to shift over time.
Alfred called us becuase his driveway was sinking in multiple spots. It casued trip hazards and with driving on it, the driveway was just getting worse. We injected PolyLevel Foam to lift up and level the concrete. PolyLevel is very lightweight but strong enough to hold up concrete with heavy loads like vehicles on it. It is also waterproof so that the rain won't wash it away. PolyLevel also has a very quick curing time so you can drive or walk on it within about 15 minutes of it being injected!
We do many PolyLevel jobs because the concrete is resting on poor foundation soil. However, this is not always the case. If you have read any basement job that we've written about, you know about how damaging water is to concrete, brick, and stone. So when water reoccurs on a slab of concrete, the slab will move around a lot. This homeowner has the downspout from the roof leading straight onto the walkway, which in return has made the walkway unlevel. We did two things to fix this problem permanently. First, we fixed the downspouts by adding buried downspouts which will direct the water away from the home and away from the walkway. This will also be more discrete because it is underground.
Next, we installed our advanced polymer injection foam, PolyLevel. PolyLevel worked to raise and level out the concrete slabs while dealing with the weak soils below that were no longer able to hold the weight of the home above. We drilled multiple small holes into the concrete slabs in order to inject them with a polymer material that expanded to lift and level out the concrete. Once injected, the system only needed about 15 minutes to fully cure and the slabs were then stabilized and lifted to their proper level, and stronger than ever before. Now, this homeowner will not have to worry about this ever again.
We've all been in an old basement with concrete floors, right? Have you noticed how the floor looks as if it's deteriorating? Well, we know how to turn back time on your concrete slabs and make them BETTER than new. We can do this by installing our PolyLevel technology, as we did on this Riverdale home.
We came to this homeowners property and installed our PolyLevel in their basement, which is an advanced polymer-based injection foam. We blast this foam in through tiny holes that are just smaller than a dime. Once we do this the concrete is level and stronger than ever.
