This home in Three Rivers, MI was located on a lake, and was a summer retreat for the homeowners. The only problem was that the crawl space was constantly damp. Although no one spent any time down there, encapsulating the crawl space was a step to help improve the air quality of the home and making the space usable for storage. CleanSpace was installed to provide a protective moisture barrier. Its multiple layers of cord reinforced polyester make it tough and long-lasting, ensuring that it will stay in place. By keeping moisture out of the crawl space, CleanSpace eliminates the wet, musty crawl space smell and allows for drier, cleaner air to be moved throughout the home.
Ken S. called because his crawl space was consistently damp due to his home being near a lake. The exposed earth in his dirt crawl space was letting a continuous stream of water vapor into the space, which increases the moisture level and the likelihood that mold and rot will form. This high amount of moisture will move upward into other areas of his home due to the “Stack Effect” bringing the damp air and mold spores with it. The porous cement block walls in his crawl space also serve as a source for water vapor to easily enter the space and increase the relative humidity.
To combat this problem we installed CleanSpace, which is a durable, waterproof and vapor proof liner that prevents any outside air or moisture from getting in. The white color will brighten the space and it is securely fastened to your walls so it will stay in place. We also installed the FrothPak insulation to seal and insulate the crawl space walls. This is perfect for a crawl space because it doesn’t absorb ambient moisture and is made from inorganic material so you will never have to worry about mold growth.
George P.’s porch was sinking away from his home. The could be settling for various reasons including a change in the soil’s moisture content, soil washed out from under the slab, or poorly compacted soil. The most common solution is concrete replacement or mudjacking. Both these options can be costly and time consuming interrupting your family’s daily life. We used our PolyLevel System. PolyLevel is lightweight, waterproof, has a quick cure time, lifts between 2,000 and 4,000 lbs every square inch, and is environmentally friendly.
Linda was looking into Ayers for an Egress Window so she could legally make her basement a living space. She gave Ayers a call and we had our customer care team set up an appointment for her.
The main advantage of Egress Windows would be that they are waterproof and provide a quick, easy escape in the case of an emergency. They are also much larger in size compared to the typical basement window. More natural light and fresh air will fill the room. This will make her basement more inviting for company and for whoever is planning on moving in down there.
Linda was thankful for her new Egress Window that transformed her basement into a regular living space!
Brian noticed his kitchen floor was slanted for the first time. He was worried about the damage this could cause, so he called Ayers to learn about our foundation solutions. Our professionals visited his home to evaluate and recommended installing the SmartJacks supplemental support system. SmartJacks are hot-dipped in galvanized steel and zinc plated, making them far sturdier than store-bought floor jacks. As the house moves and shifts, the jacks can be adjusted as well. Brian loves the longevity of his new system!
