Another spring day, another creepy crawl space. We had installed a sump system for this customer ten years ago, so when she decided something had to be done about her wet, gross crawl space before she could sell the house, she turned to us again.

In addition to getting and keeping the space dry, she wanted to increase the energy efficiency of the crawl space and house above it to make it more attractive to potential buyers, so we installed the CleanSpace crawl space vapor barrier system with drainage matting and drain tile, and Froth Pack Stone Wall insulation. The owner of this 100-year-old Webberville, MI home wanted to turn his basement into a usable space. But before he could get to work on that, he needed to solve his crawl space issues.

The original crawl space had a dirt floor, cobwebs, and a sinking ceiling. It was definitely a fixer-upper. The sinking ceiling not only threatened the crawl space but the room above as well. To keep the floor above from ending up in the basement, the crew attached 8 steel beams across the floor joists for added support. Then, using 9 SmartJacks, spread out across the crawl space, they lifted the floor back to its original position. With the foundation secure, the team turned their eye on encapsulating the crawl space. One of the great benefits of a CleanSpace encapsulation is that the liner can be wrapped around objects in its path, so the new SmartJacks didn’t hinder installation at all. The plastic vapor barrier will keep humidity and moisture out of the crawl space to prevent further damage to the wood foundation. For a bit of added protection, the crew sprayed FrothPak, a waterproof foam insulation, throughout the crawl space.

Phillip was in need of a fix for his cracking driveway so he called Ayers so he could get recommendations from professionals. After we conducted an inspection at his home our crew was able to conclude our PolyLevel and NexusPro Crack Repair solutions would do the trick. First PolyLevel is a polymer, lightweight, foam injection that will raise and level the driveway. We add NexusPro Crack Repair since this is a flexible, silicone sealant meant to fill the actual cracks in the concrete. Now Phillip has a much more attractive, smoother driveway again that will be free from tripping hazards!

Steve and LeeAnn had significant amounts of water coming into their wine cellar. The couple reached out to Ayers, and a home inspection was conducted. The team at Ayers determined that water was seeping through areas in the foundation and interior drains would be best. Steve and LeeAnn decided on the TrenchDrain, which sits below the floor and above the home footing, leaving it out of sight! Additionally, CleanSpace was installed, which utilizes a heavy-duty plastic liner that lines the walls creating a vapor barrier. Any water entering the cellar will run behind the liner and directly into the drain! Steve and LeeAnn were thrilled with the entire outcome!
