Kris's home was built in the early 1900s and the basement had an unprotected dirt floor. He noticed water puddles forming in the basement after the snow melted. He called up Ayers for a professional waterproofing job. After we inspected his basement, we determined our CleanSpace Wall System and TripleSafe Sump Pump System would work best. Our CleanSpace Wall System uses a poly sheet material to cover the basement foundation walls and provide a vapor barrier. We placed CleanSpace on the floor as well to separate his home from the moist ground so this excess moisture wouldn't lead to mold or bacteria. It is also made from a thick, waterproof material to prevent puddles. We even added our TripleSafe Sump Pump System to ensure water stays off his floor with this three-pump system. Kris was thrilled to get the much needed protection for his home!
Justin was putting a bedroom into his basement and needed to add an exit for safety precautions. He contacted us at Ayers Basement System and set up an appointment. After inspecting his home, the team determined where the window would go! The egress window was later installed and looked fantastic! Additionally, he opted to install a Rockwell window cover to provide a watertight seal and stop debris from getting in the well! Justin was thrilled with how the job turned out!
Gene noticed that the walkway to his home had begun to drop to the ground. He contacted us at Ayers Basement Systems to find a solution. After an inspection, the team suggested the PolyLevel system! This process inserts expandable foam below the surface of the concrete, allowing the crew to level the surface without a mess! Gene was thrilled that his walkway looked great and was supported!
One of the reasons basements have windows is an emergency exit. But would you want to try to shimmy your way through this home's old window? In addition to a waterproofing system (photos coming tomorrow), we installed a new, less frightening, window.
This basement had quite a few issues. Mold was one issue. The major issue, which caused the first, was water entering the space, mainly through wall cracks. In a small area, a little water feels like a really big issue and a large amount of water means real trouble. This homeowner took the wind right out of those worries with a perimeter drainage system called WaterGuard. We installed this system right on the footing of the home by removing a small amount of concrete around the base of the wall. The drain is put in place and the concrete is replaced aside from the small gap seen along the perimeter. We also added a sump pump to direct the water to for removal from the home. The sump pump has an airtight lid, floor drain, and an alarm to alert the homeowner if the pump fails or is not keeping up. Finally, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier to help keep water vapors down and prevent musty smells in the basement.
