Crawl Space Repair Before & After Photos

Sometimes you just know something is wrong, even without obvious symptoms. This was the case with our customer in Ypsilanti, who called with a problem crawl space. But the culprit wasn't flooding, or mildew, or even cold floors. It was dust.

There were little signs of all the others, of course, but their major impetus for calling was the excessive amount of dust that seemed to be in the house at all times. They were concerned for their health and the health of their six dogs.

So we checked it out, and sure enough, the vented crawl space was the dust culprit. Dust (and water, and bugs, and who knows what else) would enter through the vents, then travel through the ducts to the rest of the house.

We encapsulated the crawl space with our CleanSpace vapor barrier system and installed SilverGlo insulation panels to protect the crawl space from the elements, and the house above from the crawl space. And to make sure the job was complete, we sealed off those pesky vents with our Everlast Crawl Space Vent Covers.

This crawl space was giving off an awful musty, mildew odor that was coming up into the house. Usually, a bad smell is a sign of a wet crawl space and a lot of times that means mold. This customer contacted us because his crawlspace was giving off a strong mildew smell. This issue occurred because of the high water table in the area that was letting water and moisture into the space, causing it to become humid and damp.

We first installed dimpled drainage matting on the floor of the crawlspace that helped move intruding water easily across the floor to the sump pump. Next, we installed the plastic CleanSpace liner that sealed off the crawlspace from outside elements such as dirt, water, moisture and cold/hot air. This liner was extremely durable and prevented mold growth as well.

Susan had a musty smell coming through the floors and knew something wasn't right. She decided to call Ayers, so we had a crew head over to the home for a free inspection of the problem area. From the inspection, our experts determined the smell was coming from the crawl space because she lacked proper encapsulation.
