Basement Waterproofing Before & After Photos

Duane and Joy just bought their secondary vacation home in Cadillac, MI and were worried about the humidity in the springtime. The couple wanted a clean start to the home, so they called Ayers Basement Systems for a quote for any waterproofing measures that would be needed. Our crew came out for an inspection, and determined that our TripleSafe sump pump, drainage matting, and Clean Space Wall System would be perfect for their home's crawl space. 

The TripleSafe sump pump system utilizes three pumps in order to remove excess water from the crawl space. The second and third pumps are in case of emergencies so the space can remain dry, even when the power goes out. Drainage matting is a liner for the crawl space that is placed underneath the CleanSpace plastic liner. If the crawl space ever gets wet, the dimpled mat allows water to pass below to the sump pump. CleanSpace Wall System is a moisture barrier that uses a thick plastic liner along crawl space walls to keep them dry and last decades longer. It also has antibacterial properties that prevent mold and bacteria growth. Damp air takes more energy to heat and cool. Cutting down on the moisture in the crawl space, in turn, will cut down on how much it costs to heat or cool the home.

Not every waterproofing project requires a full basement system. This Cadillac, MI home was the perfect example of that. Thanks to the slope of the hill that the house was built on, rainwater and thawing snow would regularly flow down to the concrete slab outside of this walkout basement. Since the foundation was already exposed, it was easy for water to end up inside the basement and puddle in the corners nearest to the downspouts.

Our system design specialist came up with a solution to catch and dispose of the water before it had a chance to threaten the basement. First, a TrenchDrain was added next to the concrete slab to catch any water that the gutter missed. Then, by extending the gutter downspouts and connecting them to a LawnScape outlet at the bottom of the slope, the crew was able to push water away from the house and foundation. The drain was connected to the same line as the downspouts for discharge. In the after photo, you can see the entire new system before the crew buried the lines.

Our team installed the BrightWall paneling system to combat the moisture. The sump pump then removes the water from your home!
