A customer wanted to turn his basement into a living space and so he called us to install Egress Windows and Wells. Egress Window Wells are required because they are big enough to provide a safe exit in case of emergency. In addition, these windows provide lots of natural light. Lastly, most windows offer minimal protection against outside air entering the home due to poor insulation around the window. Egress windows will help ventilate your indoor areas and prevent unwanted allergens from entering your house.
This homeowner had some concrete on the sidewalk leading to their front door that was not level. He was worried about it being a tripping hazard for people walking to the door. We had an easy, fast solution for them! We used PolyLevel to lift up the fallen concrete and take away the risk of someone tripping. PolyLevel is an injectable foam that goes under the concrete to help lift it back up the original position. It is waterproof so it won't get washed out and it wont drain harmful chemicals into the soil. The best part is that PolyLevel cures in about 15 minutes so it won't disrupt the homeowner or the home!
This homeowner had a leak in their basement and the floor was wet. There was no sump pump and the problem area was under a window in an unfinished part of the basement. We had the perfect solution for the home to keep it dry and the water out. We started with installing the WaterGuard system which is a French drain system that is under the floor but above the foundation to keep it from clogging. The system collects the water that leaks in from the walls and drains it to the sump pump to be expelled out of the home. We then installed a powerful sump pump which can pump 2,220 gallons of water per hour to keep the area dry and the homeowner happy!
Are your floors always the wrong temperature? Cold in the winter and hot in the summer? If your crawl space isn't properly insulated, it might be the culprit as air from the crawl space rises and defeats all of the hard work your heating and cooling system is doing.
By encapsulating your crawl space with CleanSpace and SilverGlo insulation, you can not only protect the crawl space from ambient groundwater, you can also make the home above it more comfortable and save money on heating and cooling costs.
This Battle Creek, MI homeowner was interested in a replacement basement window. The standard basement window is a small rectangle occasionally equipped with an aluminum or metal well encasement. Windows like these work well in most basements because lighting usually isn’t a huge factor, but when homeowners go through the effort of finishing their basement they prefer to be able to see it. At least that was this homeowner’s viewpoint.
To replace the original window, the team had to excavate the soil around the well and recut a larger hole into the wall. Our egress windows are vinyl framed and designed to never rust or decay like steel or wood-framed basement windows. The wells are the same way. Being made from plastic instead of metal means the well will keep the new window protected from a variety of elements without ever needing another replacement. As you can see in the after photo, the new well was installed with a cover on top and deeper into the ground than the previous unit. The cover allows light to reach the basement, but the homeowner will never have to worry about water getting in and ruining his window or walls. The one-day installation finished up just in time for the owner to enjoy the summer sun shining in through his new basement window.
