Problematic Bowing Wall
As seen above, Ronald and Carol's garage wall had apparent problems, as cracks were more than visible. From the team findings at Ayers, this wall most definitely needed to be supported!
Supporting The Wall With SmartJacks
Ronald and Carol's garage wall needed support; thus, they went with SmartJacks. SmartJacks utilizes a load-bearing base where a hole is dug out and filled with cement. This base is where the jack is set and will allow load-bearing weight from the home to be distributed and supported. Once the SmartJacks were set up and installed, the garage wall was permanently stabilized!
Preparing for ShotCrete
Rebar was installed over top of all the SmartJacks. Installing the rebar is in preparation for ShotCrete, as it will make the concrete stronger and more resilient. Rebar helps the weight from the home be evenly distributed onto the new wall offering maximum stability.
Finishing The Project With ShotCrete
ShotCrete is the application of spraying mortar or cement through a high-pressure hose onto a surface. A thin layer of concrete can be sprayed and then layered to create a structurally sound cement partition. ShotCrete offers versatility to construct, repair, and reinforce various structural elements. In the case of Donald and Carol's problematic wall, it was permanently supported and stabilized!
