Foundation Repair Photo Album: Keeping a Home on a Hill Standing

This Comstock Park home is built on a hill with some foundation exposed on the back of the home. Laurel noticed that the back portion of the home had settled and there were cracks all over the home. Some cracks were appearing in the brick around the front door, the basement wall, in the garage, and the foundation at the back of the home. There were also some separation of the floors from the wall on the main level. She was afraid that the walls will fail and the home will fall down the hill. We used Push Piers and Wall Anchors to stabilize the settling home, keep the floors at the correct level, and provide peace of mind to the homeowners that their home is safe!

Horizontal Cracks

Some of the cracks on the outside of the home are the most prominent and were noticed first by the owner. Horizontal cracks like this one can cause much bigger problems like bowing or failing walls so they should be addressed as soon as possible.

Cracks All Over

This basement wall has cracks all over it. The homeowner knew this was one of the signs that the foundation had some problems and should be fixed.

Blocks Separating

In the corner of the home, you can see a deep crack that looks as if the corner block is separating. This is a corner where the settling was occurring. This is also a sign that the home should be stabilized.

Piers Inside the Basement

We installed Push Piers inside the basement to stabilize the foundation and to help return the floors on the main level to the correct position. These piers are the perfect option for when the depth of the soil is unknown since they need to reach the stable soils to stabilize the foundation.

Wall Anchors

This is what the wall anchors look like outside. The also use hard packed soil to stabilize the failing foundation. These keep the walls from moving further and cracking.
