Stabilizing a Sault Sainte Marie Michigan Foundation

Court and Stephanie bought their first home a couple of years ago. There were visible cracks in the walls and ceiling when they acquired it but in the short time they lived in the home, they saw the cracks getting worse. They were worried about the safety of the home and wanted to protect their investment. They called Ayers to learn about the problems of the home and to see how they could protect it. 

Our System Design Specialist, Doug, went out to inspect the home and diagnose the problem. He knew that cracks in walls could be a sign of foundation failure and when searching the home, he noticed that some support blocks in the crawl space looked as if they were sinking into the ground. He talked with the homeowners about the warning signs he found and the possible solutions to save their homes!

Due to the sinking blocks in the crawl space, the homeowners decided on the SmartJack Crawl Space Support System which provides support for sagging beams to restore stability to the floor joists in the crawl space. SmartJacks are attached to floor joists and have a sturdy base on the floor. Once installed, the steel posts can be adjusted at any point, providing a permanent solution for Court and Stephanie’s home!
