The crawl space under this lake cottage had mice in it and it had musty odor. The owner wanted it encapsulated. What we ended up doing for this crawl space was even better. Not only did we encapusulate the crawl space to guard against water seepage and harmful water vapors but we also added SilverGlo thermal insulation on the block walls and TerraBlock insulation on the ground. These help to reflect heat back into the home and prevent cool air from turning the first floor of this home into a block of ice. The energy savings and the warm floors will make this homeowner glad that they did the extra work.

Joist Shows Signs Of Water Leakage

Judging from the coloration of this floor joists, some leakage from the floor above may have been contributing to the mustiness of the crawl space. Addressing any plumbing issues and waterproofing the space will prevent mustiness in the future.

TerraBlock Insulation Adds R-Value To Crawl Space

TerraBlock is a 3/4" foam insulation with a vapor barrier on both sides and can help keep the crawl space warm despite the cold ground underneath. The ground could be as cold as 55 degrees below the encapsulation system.

SilverGlo Insulation Keeps Floors Toasty

SilverGlo insulation is placed on the block walls to help keep warmth in and the cold out. Spray foam seals the joints and top of the insulation to make sure that no gaps are left for heat to escape through.

Finished Crawl Space Is Bright, Dry, and Warm

Once our durable CleanSpace encapsulation is complete and the insulation process is done, this lake cottage can enjoy warm floors in the winter and will be free of any mustiness.
