Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: WaterGuard Saves Home Sale in Sparta, MI

The customer who called us didn't even live in the house. He was a realtor trying to close a sale on a house that had a basement water problem. The inspector had suggested it get fixed before the buyer made an offer, and the buyer's financing was contingent on the problem being fixed, so the realtor called us for help. While there was an existing sump system that worked just fine, it was not installed in a place that allowed the water to actually drain to it, so it wasn't as effective as it needed to be. We installed WaterGuard around the perimeter of the basement and a crosstile section across the floor to direct the water to the existing sump.

We have to remove a section of the floor in order to install the WaterGuard system. Once the track is installed, we pour new concrete to restore the floor.

Cross Tile Installation Aids Drainage to Sump Pump

To give the water drainage system a little boost, we also installed a cross tile section that crossed the middle of the floor. This is often done when there is a slope in the basement floor.

One of the biggest concerns we hear when customers look at photos of our work is that they don't want their basement floors to be multicolored. But don't worry! The concrete is only that dark when it's wet. As it dries it lightens up to the light gray you're used to.
