Waterproofing and Concrete Leveling in Midland, MI
Challenge
When there are problems in your home, it can be difficult to take the first step. What if the repairs cost a lot of money? What if the company you hire doesn’t do good work? What if it’s inconvenient or takes way longer than it was supposed to? What if, what if, what if?
When Mary Jane called us at the end of 2019, she had water coming in through her basement walls. The house had a sump pump but it just couldn’t keep up so it wasn’t very useful. She wanted the house to be sound in case she decided to sell, and knew that a dry basement was a big part of that.
We’ll talk about the project below, but what’s great is that Mary Jane was so pleased with her project that a few months later she called us again. Because she wasn’t scared of the What Ifs anymore - she had found a good company and people that she trusted to do good work - she called for help with her sinking patio and driveway.
Solution
In both cases, system design specialist Justin made the trip to Mary Jane’s Midland home. Upon inspection, he determined that the existing sump pump wasn’t just slow, it was totally nonfunctional. The basement was also structured in a way that most of the incoming water didn’t have a route to the corner where the sump was installed. This meant that the water couldn’t get there, and even if it did, the sump wouldn’t be able to discharge it.
He recommended a powerful dual pump sump system to handle even the largest influx of water. And to make sure the water had a route there, we installed a full perimeter of WaterGuard below-floor drain system. As water comes in through the walls and floor, WaterGuard collects it and sends it to the sump pump for discharge outside.
On our visit a few months later, we used PolyLevel to lift the sinking patio and level the driveway slabs. We then used NexusPro joint sealant at all seams to protect against water intrusion.
One of the best things about working with a locally owned business is that we know you. If you call us for multiple projects, you’ll get the same system design specialist who knows you and your home. We’ll work to find you not just the best solution for your home, but the best way to get you there through financing and scheduling options.
