Photo Album: Fixing the Foundation of a Home Built on a Dune
Foundations are the most important part of a home. Everything else is built on top of it. Many contractors pay little attention to how it is laid and what kind of ground is underneath. This home was built on a sand dune and as a result the home's structure and its supports.
Our foreman Randy inspected the home and was able to diagnose the issue of weak foundational soil and prescribed a list of treatments. The treatments were used inside and out of the home, all meant to provide a permanent solution to the homeowner's basement issues.
SartJack
SmartJack piers are support steel beams that are placed at strategic points along a building's crawl space support. The beams are anchored into the foundational floor with poured concrete and the tops are fixed with load-bearing joints. The SmartJacks are meant to be a permanent solution, bringing stability to the home.
Wall Cracking
The ground under the foundation can decide how long your home will last more than anything else. Here it is clear that the building was placed on a hill, meaning sliding and dirt shifting is guaranteed.
