Crumbling Foundation? We Can Help
While we have multiple solutions to stabilize and repair bowing and cracked walls, there are some walls that can’t be saved. Or at least, couldn’t be saved in the past.
Stone walls are the most common when it comes to difficult or impossible repairs. As mortar crumbles and stones fall out, there isn’t any structure there to save. Before, your options were to sell your home, replace the foundation entirely, or abandon your life and run into the forest, never to be seen again.
These days, there’s a better way: Shotcrete. Shotcrete builds walls in place through a high-pressure spray application, eliminating the need for expensive, drawn out, and dangerous solutions. Let’s look at your options.
Foundation Replacement - Full
In a full foundation replacement, the entire house is lifted up with a crane while the existing foundation is torn out and a new one is built. Sound complicated? It is. Raising a house means you have to:
- Have your utilities disconnected
- Move out for the duration of the project
- Risk damage to possessions inside
- Risk damage to the house itself
Foundation Replacement - Staged
If lifting your house with a crane just sounds like Too Much, many projects can be done in stages. This means that one side of the house is jacked up at a time, and the foundation wall below it is removed and re-poured. You’ll still have to:
- Have utilities disconnected as needed
- Move out when needed areas are being repaired
- Risk damages to possessions inside...one section at a time
- Risk damage to the house itself...one section at a time
Neither of those options sound great to me. They’re both expensive, inconvenient, and can take a long time. So let’s look at what is required for a Shotcrete repair.
Shotcrete
As I mentioned above, a high pressure hose is used to apply concrete to a framework built in place over top of your existing crumbling walls. Once everything cures, the new walls bear the weight of your home. In order to have Shotcrete done in your home, you’ll need to:
- Let our crew work in your home for a few days (average 3-4 days, could be a few more on the size of the project)
- Deal with some noise
And that’s about it. By building new walls in place, we completely avoid any lifting procedure or removal of the original walls. This means that you don’t have to disconnect anything, you don’t have to move out for even a minute, and you don’t have to worry about damages. Your home remains your home - just safer and structurally sound.
Crumbling walls that other companies may have given up on, or suggested lengthy, dangerous fixes for, don’t scare us. And now that you’ve got us, they shouldn’t scare you. Call today to schedule your free inspection and find out if Shotcrete is right for you.
