The Importance of Battery Backup
Fall in the midwest is a time for being basic - apple picking, watching the leaves change, consuming as much pumpkin as possible - but it’s also a time when the wind does its best to knock all of those leaves straight off the trees, and maybe knock a few trees down too.
Fall is windy. Winter also tends to be windy, with the added bonus of heavy snow. And the other two seasons? Rain. Lots of it. And lightning. And also more wind.
This is all to say, the wind and trees and everything that comes with storms can easily take out a power line or even a transformer. In my hometown, there’s a transformer that regularly goes out because of a single wayward squirrel. And it can take hours, or even days (and if you’re in Lansing, maybe weeks) to restore power. Given that many power outages occur during storms, this puts your sump pump at risk.
Many sump pumps require electricity in order to run and continue pumping water out of your basement. When they shut down, they stop pumping, allowing water to build up until your basement is wet, or even flooded. No power = no sump pump = flooded basement, right?
Not necessarily.
Our TripleSafe sump pump not only houses three powerful pumps in one unit, but the third pump has a battery backup. That means that even when the power goes out, your sump keeps evacuating water - especially important during a storm, when you need it the most.
If you have a sump pump, ask us about upgrading to a TripleSafe with a battery backup. And if you have a wet basement, call us to get started on designing a waterproofing system that will keep it dry - even when the power goes out.
