April Showers Bring May Flowers
Spring is here and unfortunately that means we can expect a lot of rain in the near future. With all of the excess water, you have to make sure your basement is protected from unwanted intruding water.
Water can make its way into your home quite easily. Whether it seeps in through the joint between the floor and the wall or makes its way in through cracks in the foundation, we have a solution that will ensure any intruding water is efficiently and effectively removed from your home.
The WaterGuard system is a perimeter drainage system that we install around the interior perimeter of your basement floor. We start by removing small sections of floor at the base of each wall in order to place drainage pipes in the underneath the flooring. The pipes are installed on top of the footing, which is beneficial because it prevents them from clogging with dirt over time. We also make sure to place the pipes slightly away from the wall to ensure any intruding water has room to filter down into the system. Once installed, we fill the excavated flooring in with concrete fill to completely restore the flooring. You will be able to see that we leave a small amount of the system, closest to the wall, uncovered so water is able to trickle down and enter the underground drainage pipes. Once the job is complete, it will look like we were never even there!
This system works great at protecting your home from water intrusion by ensuring any water leakage is able to filter down into the system, rather than flowing out onto the floor. WaterGuard also goes hand in hand with your sump pump system. Once the water enters the drainage pipes, it is taken to the sump pump to be immediately discarded from the home.
By taking advantage of the WaterGuard system, you no longer have to worry about the effects of heavy rainfall on the condition of your basement. After all, April showers bring May flowers!
