Say Goodbye To Fiberglass Insulation
We all know our crawl spaces need to be insulated and when we think insulation, fiberglass is the first word that comes to mind. Unfortunately, most people don’t know that fiberglass insulation allows air to easily pass through it and since it is made of organic materials, it makes a perfect home for mold. Because this type of insulation is not waterproof or even water resistant, the fiberglass material can be become statured with ambient moisture, making it completely useless at insulating your home. When fiberglass insulation becomes saturated it can also begin to grow mold and deteriorate. Thankfully, we have many insulation products that are waterproof, made of inorganic materials and seal off your home to prevent unwanted airflow and energy loss.
Since insulation needs to be installed on the air boundary surfaces, proper insulation needs to be installed on your crawlspace floor and walls.
CLEANSPACE
The CleanSpace vapor barrier system is used to fully encapsulate a crawlspace to keep the outside environment from getting in. This system creates an airtight seal by completely isolating the area from the earth and its waterproof and vapor proof properties prevent moisture from entering. This liner is securely fastened to the walls and floors so it will stay in place and its extremely durable plastic material prevents rips and tears.
SILVERGLO
To further insulate the area, SilverGlo insulation can be installed on crawl space walls. These foam wall panels are made of small graphite particles that reflect heat. These panels also serve as a radiant barrier to reflect heat back into your crawl space. SilverGlo can also be used to insulate the rim joists in a crawl space to make sure the area is fully sealed off from outside air and moisture.
TERRABLOCK
Floor insulation is another way to create a barrier between your home and the outside elements. The TerraBlock foam insulation is installed on the floor of a crawlspace, underneath the CleanSpace liner. This insulation has a vapor barrier on both sides to prevent moisture from entering and like SilverGlo, it lowers the material's conductivity for a great R-value. It is also resistant to damage and serves as padding all while saving you on your energy costs and making sure you are comfortable in your home.
FROTHPAK
Lastly, FrothPak insulation can be used to further seal off any small nooks and cranny’s in your crawl space. This spray foam insulation is different from fiberglass insulation because it doesn’t absorb ambient moisture. It also is made of inorganic materials, which makes it resistant to mold growth.
Say goodbye to fiberglass insulation because, with these effective products, you can always be certain your crawl space is properly insulated.
