Weird Wednesday: Original Bob Marley Recordings Found in London Basement
Although Bob Marley passed quite a few years ago, his music still lives on today, readily available to listeners on many music streaming platforms. However, it’s recently been discovered that his music is also available on several cassette tapes as well.
In a recent cleanout of a London hotel basement, 13 tapes of Bob Marley music were discovered. These tapes contain the original recordings of several of Marley’s European concerts from 1974-1978, including the famous track “I Shot the Sherriff.” Found slimy and seemingly damaged from water, it didn’t seem likely that these tapes would be able to be recovered, but luckily, a year and several thousand dollars later, 10 of the tapes were restored by a sound technician.
You may not have the recordings of a cultural icon in your basement, but I’m sure you have other valuables you treasure just as much. These tapes survived the water, but will the things in your basement be that lucky?
