Ayers Basement Systems Commemorates 35 Years in Business

35 years ago, Virgil Ayers and his brother pooled their money to buy a shed and a secondhand van that needed a new engine. They wanted to start a construction company, and began the way everyone does - with one customer. They used the profit from the first job to buy materials for the second, and due to their conscientious effort to always leave a home looking better than they found it (how many companies do you know that sweep your floor before they leave?), they began to get referrals.

Focusing on below-grade issues, Virgil slowly expanded the company, moved to a new location, moved again, and today we’re 35 years, 100 employees, and over 30,000 customers strong. We became an official Basement Systems dealer in 2005 and since then we’ve expanded beyond basements to foundation and crawl space repair, as well as PolyLevel concrete leveling and lifting, electrical services, and Shotcrete wall construction. And that’s only the beginning.

We’re spending our 35th year looking forward to the 36th and beyond. We’re adding employees in every department (click here to see if you’re a good fit for our current openings) and making improvements to our building so it can accommodate our growing staff and needs. We’re focusing on company culture and continuing to make our employees, customers, and community happier and better than ever.

Virgil’s mantra, handed down from his grandmother, has always been, “Just Do the Right Thing” and it’s our company’s mission statement as well. We continue to work with that in mind, and as we celebrate the past 35 years, we look to the future.
