Get Your Lake House Summer Ready
Despite the fact that it SNOWED yesterday, summer is quickly approaching. And if you're like many people, you spend time at some sort of lake house up north for at least part of the summer.
You may even be lucky enough to own a lake house, be it a three room cabin or three story compound. But no matter the size, that house is probably sitting on a crawl space. And that crawl space is probably a problem.
It's unavoidable. Lakefront property is, well, near the lake. This means a high water table and high soil saturation, and, inevitably, a leaking crawl space.
As you head to the lake this month to get the house ready for summer, pay attention. Is everything...musty? And not in that expected, "closed up" way, but more of an "Ok, hold your breath" way? Maybe what some have to described to us as the "open grave" smell?
That smell is mold, and it's there because your crawl space isn't encapsulated. An open crawl space is vulnerable to wind, water, and a whole slew of facets of nature. Given moisture and food (e.g. fiberglass insulation or wooden support beams) mold has a party, and before you know it, your crawl space is wet, smelly, and wreaking havoc on your home by way of cold, sinking floors.
But you don't have to live this way! The CleanSpace vapor barrier system protects your crawl space from the elements, and protects your home from your crawl space. Your crawl space will be dry, your floors will be warm, and your energy bills will be lower.
Oh, and that smell will be gone!
