Local Students Given Hands-on Preview of Careers at Ayers Basement Systems
Ayers Basement Systems was recently invited to join the Associated Builders and Contractors Jump Start program to educate students who are interested in construction industry careers.
The program introduces high school students to various careers in construction by visiting construction companies for tours, learning how their businesses run and gaining a better understanding of what skilled trades mean for their employees. Each session meets weekly after school hours and is provided at no cost to the students participating.
On April 21, 2014, founder Virgil Ayers and Marketing Manager Cathy Burke took the students through the history of Ayers Basement Systems and talked about the daily routine of some of the company’s employees. An equipment overview gave students a hands-on look at the tools of the trade. Photos and videos were then used to show common problems employees might face and the methods the company uses to fix them.
To wrap up, Virgil Ayers talked with the students about how to be successful in any career they choose. Passion, integrity and hard work are the core principles at Ayers Basement Systems, and that is what we look for in future employees.
