Rob was looking to waterproof his basement as water was leaking down the foundation. Rob set up a home inspection with Ayers which determined that water was seeping through the foundation. The team at Ayers suggested WaterGuard, as the system will catch any water that drains down the walls! WaterGuard is a French Drain System that sits above the home's footing and below the basement floor, leaving it out of the mud zone! Rob was thrilled with the installation; it looked good, and water will no longer be an issue!
Redoing a bedroom is always exciting. For this Wyoming, MI couple, it was no different. They had just taken in a new family member and wanted to provide as much comfort as possible. Doing that for this basement room would take more than a few posters. One of the easiest ways to fix up a bedroom, especially one in the basement, is to brighten it.
Our egress windows are perfect for basement bedrooms. The team replaced the previous standard rectangle window with a 30 by 48 egress. The window is not only larger but also better protected. Each egress window comes with an accompanying well and cover to stand up to the elements. Both the well and cover are made from plastic material that won’t erode or rot away. With no erosion, the basement will be protected from possible leaks and cracks. Meaning not only did this bedroom upgrade to better lighting, it is also one step closer to becoming fully waterproof.
Though she originally called for a basement waterproofing, this Wyoming, MI customer knew she had to have one of our basement egress replacement windows once she saw them. The basement windows she was previously using were rectangular glass block windows and didn’t offer much light. As you can see in the before picture, the siding of the house actually protrudes out over the window and blocks sunlight. In the after photo, you can see the difference and benefit of the window well. The well encircles the window but extends several feet away from the home to allow light to reach both the window and into the basement. And keeping with the customer’s original desire, the well is made from waterproof, inorganic plastic that won’t erode or let water into the basement.
This basement had a severly bowed wall. Horizontal cracking in a wall is often the first sign, but this was beyond that. We installed PowerBraces along the wall in order to help support the home above and prevent the wall from bowing any further. PowerBraces also come with a great tightening feature that can be used during dry periods to gradually tighten and perhaps straighten the wall bringing it back to its original position. The installed powerbraces prior to tightening show the severity of the bowing in the wall. Hopefully the wall can be straightened over time but at the very least, these homeowners can relax knowing that the PowerBraces will keep the the home supported properly and prevent the wall from eventually caving in.
We were called when this homeowner noticed a crack in their basement wall. The buckling wasn't too bad so we installed CarbonArmor to stabilize the wall. CarbonArmor is made of flexible carbon fiber straps that are secured to the wall with a high strength epoxy resin. The carbon fiber straps are 10 times stronger in tension than steel so that your walls will not have anymore movement.
