This Winamac, IN customer was interested in having a new Egress window installed for a basement bedroom. The crew installed one of our energy efficient EverLast windows and accompanying well and cover. These products are made from inorganic plastic that promises not to rot, rust or crack like traditional metal windows and wells. Not only will this basement have a much brighter look to it, the window is also waterproof, making sure this room stays dry. Because after all, waterproofing is what we’re all about here at Ayers.
Our customer care team at Ayers answered a call from a homeowner worried about his buckling, noisy floors. Better foundation support in the crawl space was what Carl needed. Our team set up a time for a free inspection of the crawl space so that our professionals could make the best recommendations. Our System Design Specialists ended up recommending SmartJacks. First, with SmartJacks, this supplemental support system is meant for crawl spaces and will support sagging beams and floor joists. It is installed by attaching steel support beams to the floor joists and a sturdy base in the floor. The steel columns can easily be extended and will raise the floors back to a level position once again. This system will correct the creaky, sagging floors that Carl was tired of dealing with!
While having a concrete crawl space may be a step above a dirt space, it still doesn’t stop water vapor from the floor or walls. This was exactly the case in this Augusa, MI home, and they needed a solution. Luckily, we had it.
Our team installed CleanSpace, a multilayer, durable plastic liner that stops water vapor and allows for drainage to the sump pump. As an added bonus, it also has an antimicrobial additive in the material to prevent mold growth on the liner. Installing a TripleSafe sump pump at the lowest spot in the space means that any water vapor is collected here and immediately pumped out of the crawl space. This pump is very reliable in that it sports 3 pumps in one liner, including one that’s battery operated, so the sump works even if one pump can’t keep up, or if the power goes out.
Christine was buying a new home with a basement. Her one major concern with the space was that a horizontal crack in the block walls served as a sign of some significant bowing. She was looking for a way to ensure that the walls were permanently supported and possibly straightened. We had the cure. PowerBraces are a zinc-coated steel I-beam that support the home above, prevent further bowing, and use a unique tightening feature to potentially improve the condition of the wall over time. PowerBraces generally extend from the floor to the floor joists above. In this case, the PowerBraces were installed on the cement shelf so a uniquely shorter PowerBrace was used.
Richard had puddles accumulating in his basement after heavy rains and didn't know why. He decided to contact the team at Ayers Basement Systems and set up an inspection. The inspection concluded that water was leaking through areas in the foundation. Richard would later install the WaterGuard system along with new discharge lines. The installation by our crew at Ayers went smoothly and left Richard's home looking better than ever!
