Mike O. had a crawl space with a musty smell. The dirt floor was covered in plastic in an attempt to seal off the floor but to no avail. Encapsulating a crawl space needs to be done professionally and requires a full inspection to determine how to best waterproof and encapsulate the space. The musty smell the owner complained about could be standing water that accumulated beneath the makeshift plastic tarp they installed. Standing water can also lead to mold and mildew growth. We installed a waterproof, inorganic plastic liner called CleanSpace to protect the crawl space from any water intrusion. We also installed a drainage mat to captures any intrusive water and then channel it to the sump pump.
Chris was on the lookout for the right company to encapsulate his dirt crawl space. He decided to choose Ayers for the job, so we sent a crew for a free inspection. Our System Design Specialists determined that CleanSpace along with our TripleSafe Sump Pump System would provide the best encapsulation for Chris. CleanSpace is a durable plastic liner that we place on the crawl space floor, protecting it from excess moisture. The vapor barrier it holds will prevent the development of mold or bacteria, making it a much more efficient solution than a regular tarp from the store. TripleSafe is a high-performing sump pump system that fits three pumps in one durable liner. Each will work to keep water out of Chris's crawl space and provide a battery-powered backup for emergencies!
The customer approached us at a home show for help with her crawl space. Her home's floors were cold and she suspected she was losing heat through the crawl space. She wanted to stop paying to heat the ground, and to have a more comfortable home.
As she suspected, the crawl space was a huge energy drain, allowing the cold ground to affect the house above it. We installed the CleanSpace vapor barrier system along with our Ultimate Energy Savings package - TerraBlock insulation on the floor and SilverGlo insulation on the walls, as well as rim joist foam to finish the job.
A homeowner in Richland Michigan needed help waterproofing her basement because she kept noticing water collecting inside of it. She gave us a call so she could receive our professional help. We drove to her house to give her a free estimate and noticed the crawl was not properly insulated from the outside environment. To fix that we installed our advanced CleanSpace technology. CleanSpace is a 20 mil thick plastic liner that fits to the crawl space to completely seal the home from the earth. Polyester cord reinforcement allows for a lot of durability, to make it last longer than the home will. This liner also contains an antimicrobial additive to prevent mold. Now this homeowner will not have to worry about a wet crawl space ever again.
For the past few years, Annette and Thomas have had a drafty house. Their home is especially cooler in the winter because their crawl space isn't properly sealed off. So our team insulated their rim joists. Small cracks and seams can exist around rim joists, but after insulating them all of those cracks are sealed off. Now airflow is restricted keeping outside air out and inside air in. Annette and Thomas will no longer have to worry about their home being cold during the long winter months in Michigan.
