We had completed a WaterGuard installation for homeowners in Lansing, MI, but the basement still felt like it was missing something: a wall upgrade. Over time, painted basement walls can chip or peel and give a basement a dark and dingy look. Not exactly welcoming. We suggested BrightWall, basement wall panels that easily install to current basement walls to brighten up the space and give it a more clean look. BrightWall panels are also waterproof, mold-resistant, and energy efficient. This after picture really shows the difference clean walls can make!
We had taken a trip out this Lansing, MI home last year to install a WaterGuard perimeter drainage system. The owner called us back out a few weeks ago to see if we could do something for her block walls, as well. While the leaking water was no longer puddling on the floors, the walls that the water ran down had definitely seen better days. Ayers has the perfect product to get rid of old water stains and make sure they don’t reappear on the next set of walls either.
The crew attached our BrightWall rigid plastic panels in front the stained stone walls. BrightWall panels are made from inorganic, mold resistant plastic and can be put in place without a lengthy or invasive installation. Once the panels are set up, any leakage will happen behind the walls and out of sight. The water will then be directed to the WaterGuard unit that sits at the foot of the wall. It’s the perfect product to give your basement full protection from leaks without being distractingly ugly.
Josh had always felt that his basement was unusually colder than the rest of his home, but he thought it was normal. Luckily, he called us for a free quote to see if there was an underlying issue. Our team determined that his basement was so cold because the window was allowing outside air into his basement.
Our team fixed Josh's issue with an Egress Window installation. This was a quick fix for Josh and now his basement is on par with the rest of his home.
Zach was sick of the puddles of water forming in his basement from occasional water leaks so he decided to call Ayers. After an inspection was complete our System Design Specialists recommended we install our WaterGuard System, TripleSafe Sump Pump System, and our SaniDry XP Dehumidifier.
The first installation was our WaterGuard System which is a sub-floor drainage system that collects the water leaking in through the walls and is placed along the perimeter of the basement. Then we added TripleSafe which has three pumps in one trusty liner that team up to keep water out. The last pump is battery-operated so it will turn on if the power fails. Lastly we installed our SaniDry XP Dehumidifier to clean and filter the air from unwanted moisture.
Zach was ecstatic with the results now that he won't have to stress over these water leaks!
This a unique before and after piece because the before photo shows the early stage of the installation process. In the before photo of this Lansing, MI home, you can see where a window well duct drain was installed to catch leaking water that was coming in through the window. It’s very common for windows to separate from their original frame and begin to leak. Our solution is to force all the leaking water to one spot and then use the window well duct drain the leak. The duct leads directly to a perimeter drainage system that sits under the footing of the floor. After the ducts were installed, the team replaced the previously removed finished walls with rigid plastic panels where the water could flow to the drainage system without being seen. As you can see in the after photo, the drainage system was then covered with fresh concrete to keep the finished room fully protected.
