Damaged Flooring Replaced with ThermalDry in Battle Creek, MI

After the heat from a steam cleaner damaged the floors in this home, the homeowners were forced to replace them. They called Ayers to install ThermalDry tiles, which is the only and best option for inorganic, water resistant flooring. Also resistant to water vapor and mold, these tiles are raised slightly off the floor with small pegs, so water won’t get trapped in them. They come in a variety of finishes, including a Parquet wood look as shown in this home.

Waterproofing and Basement Transformation in Battle Creek, MI

Jewell C. needed to waterproof her basement. She had a sump pump, but that wasn’t enough. The house was built in 1962 and made of block walls. Houses made of block walls often allow moisture to seep through the cracks. This moisture can be a factor making your basement cold and allowing for mold growth. We not only installed Waterguard to ensure all the water is flowing to the sump pump but we installed BrightWall Paneling. BrightWall brightens your basement, giving it a finished look while protecting it. It keeps water vapor from coming through the walls and drains the water to the WaterGuard system.

Lastly, we installed our ThermalDry Floor System. The ThermalDry Floor System is made of inorganic materials: this means that water won’t ruin them and mold can’t grow. The tiles are also not sitting right on top of your concrete floors. They have raised pegs that make sure water doesn’t damage them and keeps your new floor warmer.  In addition, if one or two tiles ever get ruined in one of those high traffic areas, you won't have to replace your entire floor, but just those few tiles.

Basement in Battle Creek, MI Gets a Makeover

This home in Battle Creek already had our SuperSump sump pump installed in the basement for waterproofing but wanted their basement finished. They decided on our EverLast wall panels and ThermalDry parquet flooring. Both of these products are inorganic and waterproof, so they won't allow mold growth or moisture into the basement. The EverLast panels are very durable and hard, so it's almost impossible to dent. You can also hang anything on them without having to find studs. The ThermalDry Parquet flooring looks like real wood, but won't absorb water and swell up from water vapor. Both of these options are great for keeping your basement dry and they look amazing when completed.

Upgrading to an Egress Window in Battle Creek, MI

This Battle Creek, MI homeowner was interested in a replacement basement window. The standard basement window is a small rectangle occasionally equipped with an aluminum or metal well encasement. Windows like these work well in most basements because lighting usually isn’t a huge factor, but when homeowners go through the effort of finishing their basement they prefer to be able to see it. At least that was this homeowner’s viewpoint.

To replace the original window, the team had to excavate the soil around the well and recut a larger hole into the wall. Our egress windows are vinyl framed and designed to never rust or decay like steel or wood-framed basement windows. The wells are the same way. Being made from plastic instead of metal means the well will keep the new window protected from a variety of elements without ever needing another replacement. As you can see in the after photo, the new well was installed with a cover on top and deeper into the ground than the previous unit. The cover allows light to reach the basement, but the homeowner will never have to worry about water getting in and ruining his window or walls. The one-day installation finished up just in time for the owner to enjoy the summer sun shining in through his new basement window.

WaterGuard Stops Basement Wall Leaks in Battle Creek, MI

In this before photo, it’s clear to see the water coming in at the wall/floor joint. WaterGuard collects this water and stops it from spreading to the rest of the basement. The specially designed piping is laid around the perimeter of the room on top of the footing of the foundation, which prevents mud and dirt from clogging the pipe. When water leaks in through the walls, it’s caught by WaterGuard and rerouted to the sump pump to discharge it from the basement.
