Basement Waterproofing Before & After Photos

Though she originally called for a basement waterproofing, this Wyoming, MI customer knew she had to have one of our basement egress replacement windows once she saw them.  The basement windows she was previously using were rectangular glass block windows and didn’t offer much light. As you can see in the before picture, the siding of the house actually protrudes out over the window and blocks sunlight. In the after photo, you can see the difference and benefit of the window well. The well encircles the window but extends several feet away from the home to allow light to reach both the window and into the basement. And keeping with the customer’s original desire, the well is made from waterproof, inorganic plastic that won’t erode or let water into the basement.

Kari noticed some water issues in her basement and moisture in the wall that was causing the paint to peel. She was not sure where the water was coming from but wanted it fixed as soon as possible. First, we installed the TripleSafe Sump Pump to provide three levels of protection in case of a pump malfunction or a power outage. Next we installed the WaterGuard system which is a French drain that collects water the seeps into the basement. The drain in installed under the floor but above the foundation so that it does not clog. The water collected is sent to the sump pump to be discharged outside the home. Lastly, we installed the Basement to Beautiful Insulated Wall Panels. The panels are made of SilverGlo insulation which is a closed-cell, graphite-infused insulation that's designed to be 24% more energy efficient than competing foam paneling.

This home in Wyoming, MI, was experiencing water intrusion on both the finished and unfinished sides of the basement, leading to water-stained floors and threats to the ceiling beams and basement furniture. Larry's daughter and granddaughter were moving in with him. He wanted to make sure they had a safe place to stay and decided to finished his basement. As a result, he wanted an Egress window installed. The basement bedroom codes require that there are two exits out of the basement, being the door and the window, and unfortunately people can't fit through those small submarine windows. Egress windows are energy efficient and mildew-resistant.
