A family in Bridgman, MI, struggled with moisture issues in their basement, preventing them from creating additional living space. Ayers removed the outdated sump pump and installed a WaterGuard® drainage system and TripleSafe™ sump pump to redirect water and eliminate the musty odor. Now with a dry, odor-free basement, the family can move forward with their plans for a functional, worry-free living area.
During the last storm, Patrick's old sump pump failed and caused water to leak all over his basement floor. He knew water could cause damage to his belongings and much more, so he researched his options and called Ayers for help. We sent a crew of specialists to his home who evaluated the situation and recommended installing the TripleSafe sump pump system. TripleSafe focuses on preventing pump failure with a three-in-one system. If the first pump fails, the backup kicks in, and there's a third, battery-operated pump in case the power goes out. Patrick is relieved to have a reliable system!
This homeowner had standing water in their basement so they called us for a solution. We installed the WaterGuard system which is a French drain that is designed to be installed below the floor slab to be kept out of the "mud zone", where drains can clog. The system collects water that seeps into the basement and drains it to your sump pump.
We also installed the IceGuard to the discharge line. If a discharge line gets backed up, your sump pump won't work properly in the event of water in your basement, which will make the flooding much worse. The IceGuard is a secondary escape route for the water through slotted openings if the line gets backed up.
The back patio in the photos of this St. Joseph, MI home was a great place for the owners to kick back and relax at the end of the day. But as of lately, it had been causing a few headaches as well. The patio’s concrete slab was sloping towards the house, so whenever it rained water would puddle up at the door or enter the home.
The crew used TrenchDrain to give the owners the protection they were looking for. As you can see in the after photo, the drain spans across the entire doorway to keep every part of the home dry and protected. TrenchDrains can be either interior or exterior and are placed below floor level at low points or dips in the ground. The drains then act just like trenches and let gravity do the rest. These homeowners are now free to enjoy their back patio the way that they intended to.
The soil on the opposite side of this basement wall had caused the pipe to buckle and opened up a slight gap for water to enter. When it rained or snow melted, the leaks would be at their worse. As you can see in the before photo, the water would run down below the pipe and stain the wall. It was also common for the water to puddle on the floor before the owners could do anything about it. All of that was solved with the BrightWall panels in the after photo. The crew cut the panel around the shape of the pipe and placed it over the wall to create a rigid moisture barrier that won’t allow water to pass through. Instead as water leaks through the gap, it will flow down the wall behind the panel and into a drainage well at the foot of the wall. You can even see in the after photo where the fresh concrete was poured after the drainage well was installed. The BrightWall system not only stopped the leak, it also improved the look of the wall at the same time.
