But the owner was interested in changing up the natural light of the basement. The block window just didn’t fit the look he was going for in the basement. After going over the possible options, the owner elected to add in an egress window just a few feet away from the rectangular block window, as you can see when comparing the two photos. The big difference between the two is that the 4-foot-tall egress window is below ground level.
