A customer from Cadillac contacted us in regards to the status of their crawlspace. He wanted our help insulating it and keeping all of the moisture out. We went to his home and took a look for ourselves. After evaluation, we offered to install our advanced CleanSpace technology to solve the problem for good. CleanSpace is a 20 mil thick plastic liner that fits to the crawl space to completely seal the home from the earth. Polyester cord reinforcement allows for a lot of durability, to make it last longer than the home will. This liner also contains an antimicrobial additive to prevent mold. Now this homeowner will have a dry and healthy cleanspace for good.
Our friends in Cadillac called us with concerns with their current crawlspace. As the home is located near a high water table, humidity is high so the chance of water entering through the crawlspace increases. At Ayers Basement Systems, we recommend upgrading existing crawlspaces with two products: CleanSpace and SilverGlo. CleanSpace is a white vapor barrier that protects the house from invasive humidity and temperatures from the ground. SilverGlo (not pictured) goes on the wall to further insulate the crawlspace. With the addition of a sump pump, these upgrades will help to save money, reduce cold temperatures, and eliminate any organisms growing under our houses such as mold or dust mites.
Brian's feet had been cold since the temperature dropped in the fall. He couldn't stand the feeling, so he researched his options and called Ayers for help. Our experts stopped by his home to evaluate and recommended installing the CleanSpace vapor barrier. The vents in Brian's crawl space allowed cold air to enter his home. CleanSpace encapsulates the crawl space walls and floors and is antimicrobial-lined to eliminate moisture entry and mold growth. Brian's floor is cold no more!
John G. contacted us because he noticed a musty odor coming from his crawl space that was located under his sun porch. There was mold found in the space in the past, and the homeowner wanted to encapsulate the area and prevent further issues. The open vents and sand floor in the crawl space was allowing moisture to easily enter, which was the cause of the high humidity levels, musty smell and mold growth. We used the CleanSpace liner to fully encapsulate the space. The liner was waterproof and vapor proof, which prevented excess moisture from occupying the area. We also installed vent covers to create an airtight seal between the crawl space and the outside world. To insulate the space we installed FrothPak spray foam. This spray foam insulation doesn’t absorb ambient moisture like fiberglass insulation and is made of inorganic materials that will not lead to mold growth.
The homeowners noticed musty smells coming from their crawl space and leaking into their home. The floors were dirt and there was no sump pump in the crawl space to combat moisture.
The damp and humid environment in the homeowner's crawl space is the likely suspect of the musty smell. Odor-causing elements such as mold, dust mites, pests, rodents and decaying building materials all require the moisture to exist. To turn this smelly crawlspace into a clean, dry, and odor free crawlspace, our professional team installed the CleanSpace encapsulation system. The CleanSpace encapsulation system covers the walls and floors with a thick, durable vapor barrier designed to permanently keep moisture, outside air, and unwanted pests out of your crawlspace. The CleanSpace system is bright white to keep your crawl space looking bright and clean!
