A customer reached out to us for an estimate on an Egress Window in their basement. The new Egress Window was a much needed improvement from what they had previously. Egress Windows are important to allow natural light into the basement and provides a much cleaner appearance in any basement.
Bryant had ongoing issues with his bowing basement walls and realized he could no longer ignore the evident damage to his walls. You could see the stair step crack on the inside and outside of his home. These cracks follow the mortar lines in a block wall as pressure on the wall increases. Stair step cracks are dangerous because they cover a wide area. This wall was well on its way to collapse without a repair solution. We used CarbonArmor® to stabilize his basement walls. CarbonArmor is a wall reinforcing system with straps made from a fiber-reinforced polymer that is ten times stronger than steel. CarbonArmor® stabilized Bryant's walls and will now protect them from future bowing.
Jennifer was in desperate need of a new waterproofing system that would eliminate the water leaks arising in her basement. After giving Ayers a call we conducted a free inspection of her home. Our System Design Specialists then determined our WaterGuard System and TripleSafe Sump Pump System would solve her issues. The WaterGuard is a subfloor drainage system installed along the perimeter of the basement meant to collect any water leaking through the walls. We conceal this system with concrete and hook it to the sump pump for the water to be directed. Next, we installed TripleSafe, a three-pump system that fits in one durable liner. Each pump is there to ensure Jennifer's basement stays dry!
Chelsea was looking into getting a couple of Egress Windows installed to make her basement space look more attractive. She trusted Ayers for the job so we sent a crew to her home to begin the installations. Egress Windows are much larger which allows more natural light to fill the room. This will brighten up the room and make it more inviting. These are durable, waterproof windows that come with an exterior well. The main benefit is the safe exit option the window provides for emergency situations. Chelsea's basement has transformed into a regular living space with the addition of these Egress Windows!
Merilee called in search of an egress window for the basement she hoped to use as an office. In addition to fire code requirements, she just wanted the room to be brighter and more pleasant to spend time in.
By adding the egress window, we not only brightened the basement, but we added value to the home by creating more (legal) living space.
