IceGuard vs. Mother Nature in East Jordan, MI

Discharge lines are one of the more commonly overlooked aspects of our waterproofing projects. After adding in a sump pump or a drainage system, that water must be carried somewhere. The obvious preference is that the water is deposited so far away it can never reach your home again, but that’s not always possible.

After one of our Ayers teams completed a crawlspace encapsulation in East Jordan, they had to take the steps to prevent flooding from happening again. The flood occurred because there was ground water close enough to the crawlspace to leak in. Our discharge lines and lawnscape outlet focus on making sure that the same water doesn’t return. The biggest to those lines will be freezing temperatures (as seen in the before picture). If the line were to freeze over, water that was exiting the system would be forced back to the crawl space sump pump because of clogging. That’s why the team installed an IceGuard shield. The shield is an alternative escape route in the event that the line freezes. The IceGuard shield points away from the foundation to prevent water from leaking back in. Obviously our hope is that the water will exit at the safe distance of the lawnscape outlet, but when temperatures freeze our only focus is getting the water out.

Maybe one-day snow and ice won’t be a problem for us Midwesterners, but until then we’re glad that we’ve got IceGuard.

Keeping Water Out of this Lake Front Home

Darryl has a seasonal waterfront home that had a water intrusion issue in the basement. Water was coming up from the cracks in the floor and the sump pump was not pumping the water out. We used the WaterGuard to collect the water and send it to a new sump pump. It is installed under the floor so you do not have an unsightly drain in your space. The new sump pump we installed, the TripleSafe, has 3 levels of protection to keep the home dry even if a pump fails or there is a power outage. We also installed the SaniDry XP dehumidifier to dry the space and filter the air. It stands up and can be stored in a corner or closet so that it can stay out of the way in your basement.

Leaking Water Eliminated from Eastport, MI, Home by TripleSafe Sump Pump

Mary realized she had an old sump pump that wasn't quite doing the trick. She needed to replace it, so she called Ayers to hear about our waterproofing solutions. The crew visited her home and recommended installing TripleSafe. This is a sump pump system equipped to avoid failure with a backup and a battery-powered pump that automatically turn on during pump or power failure. Mary is happy to have a fully functioning pump and a dry basement!

Flooded Basement in Boyne City, MI

So we got a heavy rain and you realize your basement is flooded. The first thing to do after you panic is to call us here at Ayers. We would be happy to send someone out to do a free inspection of your problem and get you a free estimate.

When a basement is flooded or damp the best thing to do is install a perimeter system to channel all the water that is coming in through the floors and walls. The next thing to do is find a way to get all of that water out of your basement/crawl space. A sump pump is the best option for this. We offer a few different types to suit everyone's needs. The pump pictured is our SuperSump. It comes with a sturdy liner with holes in it to accept the ground water. It next comes with an airtight lid to prevent the water from evaporating back into your basement because that's pretty contradictive if you ask us.  It also comes with a pump stand, a floor drain and the best part...a pump alarm. The alarm works in the emergency case that it can't keep up with the amount of water that's coming in. This allows you to do something before you have a bigger problem on your hands.

The original pump in the picture didn't have a lid to prevent evaporation and it was getting old. We replaced the sump pump and have a happy customer who is not enjoying a dry basement with their new SuperSump sump pump and WaterGuard system.

Leland Basement is Prepared to Fight Michigan Weather

One of our customers from Leland Michigan gave us a call. She said that her basement was collecting water and she needed help waterproofing it.  We drove to her home and knew just the solution, she did not have a sump pump so we hooked her up with the best one out there, the TripleSafe. TripleSafe is a sump pump with three different pumps in one liner. The first being the 1/3 hp zoeller pump which does most of the pumping and is placed at the bottom of the liner. The second is the 1/2 hp zoeller that is placed slightly higher than the first. This pump is more powerful but will only be turned on when needed. The final pump is the battery-operated UltraSump DC which is used in case of a power outage, this pump can pump up to 24,000 gallons of water.
