How's your sump pump? Does it look like the one on the left or the one on the right? Or do you not even have one at all? We see it time and time again, homeowners are generally unaware of the quality of their sump pump. This homeowner in Grand Rapids had a sump pump that was not perfect for his basement, it sat in water (which means it didn't do its job) , and it didn't have a lid so it could be easily damaged by debris and many other materials. To fix it, we installed our UltraSump III. This sump pump has a battery operated system so that it will work even in a power outage. The UltraSump also has a lid so that it can be safe from being clogged and damaged. This homeowner will have a dry basement for a very long time now. Call Ayers to upgrade your sump pump today.
Our customer Nancy, called us asking about crawl space insulation as her house was feeling chilly. Crawl space insulation helps the rest of the house to not feel drafty and cold. Done right, this can save money as well as make us feel more comfortable in our homes. This specific crawlspace was helped using CleanSpace. CleanSpace is a vapor barrier that allows the house and crawlspace to be separated from the ground. Doing this will reduce relative humidity that can have many benefits such as energy costs, and helping to reduce mold and allergies. Combine CleanSpace with SilverGlo wall insulation and you'll be saving money and feeling better in no time!
Courtney works for a property management company and was in need of a contractor that was as professional of a company as her own. Wanting to fix the cracks in her foundation, Courtney contacted Ayers and had our resident foreman Evan perform an inspection.
Evan realized the home needed a stronger draining system, so he prescribed a WaterGuard Drainage system. The system works with the home's sump pump to add an extra level of protection.
The system consists of a series of channels that diverge any excess water from the sump pump towards an outlet that takes the water far away from the home's foundation. The Channels are placed under the foundational floor, making the system invisible and unintrusive.
Liz's beautiful home enjoys a beautiful from her back porch, but due to the home's placement on a slope, it began to settle and cause the foundational soil to become compromised. Not fixable herself, Liz needed a reliable contractor so she contacted Ayres.
Our foreman Evan was able to inspect the surrounding area and draft a plan to fix the home that both parties could agree to. Even prescribed a set of Helical Piers to reintroduce stability into the home's foundational soil. The piers are long screw-shaped metal drives that are installed at an angle under the home. The drives are driven deep past the weak soil till they find frim ground. The tops of the drives are fitted with concrete blocks that provide a flat surface for the home to rest upon.
Jeff’s home was built in 1997 with a poured concrete foundation. His basement was finished and water was collecting in the corner. There wasn’t any standing water, but the carpet was saturated. He called Ayers for an inspection and our crew determined that WaterGuard would be the perfect solution for his home.
WaterGuard is a sub-floor waterproofing system that collects water that leaks through the walls and keeps dirt away from the foundation. It is installed along the perimeter of the basement and on top of the footing of the foundation. Concrete is poured on top and regular flooring can be placed on top.
Jeff was thrilled to get this taken care of so his basement can go back to being a place where his family can hang out.
