When our customer bought her home in 2014, the inspector told her she would need to get the crawl space encapsulated in order to preserve the integrity of the home. When we went in at the end of 2015, he was proven right, as we needed to install SmartJacks to supplement the existing rusted supports. We also installed CleanSpace vapor barrier with drainage matting to prevent any further problems in the crawl space.

Rusting Crawl Space Supports

One of the major effects of water in a crawl space is the erosion of the structure. Rust and mold can destroy supports, beams, and the ceiling itself. This was the case with the existing supports in the crawl space.

Falling Ceiling in Crawl Space

Fiberglass insulation falls from the ceiling in the crawl space. This type of insulation isn't effective in a space with standing water, as it absorbs the water and weighs down, eventually falling.

In addition to covering the floor and walls with the CleanSpace vapor barrier system, we also wrap pillars and other organic support structures. This protects them from ambient moisture the same way it protects the rest of the space, preventing mold and other erosion.
