Bowing Wood Wall Supported In Dewitt, MI

Challenge

This homeowner had an all wood wall tha was being pushed by the soild and was leaning and bowing. He needed an option to straighten the wall and keep it from further bowing. Our Wall Anchors or PowerBraces might be used on a bowing wall with a block or poured concrete wall. These options as we normally install them work great when the wall is one piece but would not work in this case. The support for this wall would need to extend across the studs.

Solution

Our team installed wall anchors but rather than our normal steel wall plates that we use against block our poured concrete walls, we used a wider c-channel to extend the support across multiple studs. Geo-Lock earth anchors installed in the soil away from the home were connected to to these c-channels on the inside of the home with long steel rods. This helps to support the wall and with even distribution of the weight across the wall. The wall anchors can also be tightened to bring the wall even straighter over time, bringing it back to its original position. The homeowner will no longer have to worry about the wall leaning or bowing any further.
