Stabilizing Foundation Walls in Hopkins, MI
Challenge
Homeowners in Hopkins, MI were experiencing stair-step cracking in their basement wall. This type of cracking is a common sign of foundation problems and bowing walls. The cracks show that the problem is getting worse and needs to be addressed as soon as possible, so our crew came in to install wall anchors to fix this issue.
Solution
Wall anchors work effectively to hold walls in their current position, which is the first step this basement required. This system is unique as the anchors can be tightened to straighten the wall over time as well as hold the wall in place. To install, a small hole is dug outside the home a few feet away from the foundation and an anchor is secured into the soil. A wall plate is placed on the interior basement wall and a steel rod connects the plate to the anchor, permanently stabilizing the wall (the attached pictures show a more clear visualization of this process). Wall anchors solve a variety of foundation problems including bowing walls, walls tipping at the top, and walls pushing in at the bottom. Without relying on floor systems for support, this installation is usually completed in one day and gives homeowners the permanent solution they seek.
