Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Keeping Water and Moisture Out of a Muskegon Michigan Crawl Space

Morgan had some water and moisture issues in his crawl space. He was worried that the moisture would ruin the structure of the home and wanted to know his options to keeping all the water and moisture out. We laid down Drainage Matting to create a channel for water to flow through and be directed to the sump pump to be expelled outside the crawl space. We then installed CleanSpace which is a thick durable liner. It keeps humidity, pests, and water vapor out of the space. To help keep moisture out of the crawl space we installed the SaniDry Sedona which blows dry air throughout and it also filters the air for mold spores. Lastly, we installed the TripleSafe which has 2 pumps and a backup battery to keep water out even if there is a power outage.

Entrance

There is a space under the patio that leads to the entrance to the crawl space. The space under the patio is not getting encapsulated but the crawl space area is since that is were the problems are.

Problems with Water

You can see the dirt in this picture is wet and darker in some areas than others. There is standing water sometimes in this space but the moisture is always there. The ground is wet and the owner is worried all the moisture will wreck the structure of the home above.

First Install

The black mat that is being rolled out is the Drainage Matting. It creates a space between the ground and the liner. The spots in the mat that you see are the dimples which direct water to the sump pump.

Bright, White, and Clean

The bright white is the CleanSpace liner that acts as a vapor barrier to keep the home structure safe and water out. It creates a clean looking space that is dry and usable for extra storage.
