We've Found our First Concern
The first thing we noticed was that the entrance to Patricia's crawl space was setting her up for a wet crawl space. The rainwater in this entrance way has nowhere to go, except in Patricia's crawlspace.
A Wet Crawl Space is Something to be Worried About
Although there was currently no standing water in our new friend's crawl space, its was very cold and there was no shortage of moisture. Nearly a third of the air down here is ending up on the main layer of her home.
It's Time to Address the Crawl Space with Drainage Matting
The CleanSpace drainage mat is now being put into place. This mat will allow water throughout the entire crawl space to easily flow to the nearby sump pump for removal from Patricia's home.
SilverGlo is Like Insulation, but Way Better!
To tackle Patricia's minimal insulation concerns, we installed SilverGlo wall paneling. SilverGlo panels are constructed very differently than other types of insulation. These panels contain tiny graphite particles that permeate its foam insulation, this is what gives the panel that silver shine. These tiny particles serve a functional purpose besides just looks, they reflect heat and lower the material's conductivity for superior R-value insulation.
Installing the CleanSpace and Super Sump
The CleanSpace encapsulation system has now been installed in our friend's home. This system will begin improving the home's energy efficiency almost immediately. Patricia's new Super Sump pump has also been installed! The pump contains an air tight lid, floor drain, pump stand, and a pump alarm
Don't Forget About the SaniDry Dehumidifier
The spray foam insulation above the SilverGlo panels has been put in place and will aid its counterpart in creating a completely insulated crawl space. The SaniDry CX Patricia elected to install will ensure that the moisture down here is controlled. Our crawl space transformation may be done, but the last effects have just begun.
