A dirt crawl space can create many problems for a homeowner because the exposed earth allows a constant stream of water vapor to enter the space creating very high moisture levels. This high moisture level caused his insulation to become saturated with water and fall to the ground, which will now have no impact on insulating his home. Standing water was also present in this space, which likely entered through their open crawl space vent. Insulation and other organic materials in this the space will likely begin to rot and create the perfect atmosphere for mold to grow, which is a serious problem for Joe.
