Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: A Kalamazoo Basement Needs Waterproofing

Joan and Marcie co own a home and are tired of the basement's constant flooding. The flooding has been on and off for nine years so to find a permenant solution they contacted Ayers to investigate. Our resident foreman Bruce was able to investigate the home hand realized the home's basement was not up to par with the demands the water around was putting on the drainage system. The home was in need of a sump pump and had no way of handling access water. To help prep the home for future floods Bruce added a new sump pump and and reainage system under the basement floor. He also added a modification to better prepare the home for winter months.

Sump Pump

Bruce found that the home had no sump pump to manage the water flow in the home. Knowing that this was the main cause of the flooding he decided to install a Ayers trusted model known as the TripleSafe sump pump. TripleSafe is a trusted sump pump at Ayers due to its three levels of security. The first level is a powerful motor that has a high water capacity. The second level of security is a reserve motor that activates if the water surpasses a certain level on the initial motor. The third level of security is a backup battery that only activates if the home losses power.

WaterGuard

The home was too big for the sump pump to manage alone. As a precaution Bruce and his team installed a drainage system under the basement floor known as WaterGuard. WaterGuard is a system of draining channels that are connected to the home's sump pump. The channels are installed under the foundational floor and covered with poured concrete, making it invisible to the naked eye. The channels lead to an outlet pipe that takes the water far away from the home's foundation, depositing the water in a safe location. 

IceGuard

A major reason why the home was regularly flooding was due to that fact that the home had no protection against the winter months. The pipes easily get blocked by a build up of ice that needs to be prevented before any other tool can be used. To counteract the freezing Bruce and his team installed a modification onto the pipes known as IceGuard. IceGuard is a modification that attaches to the pipes of the home's sump pump. Without the mod ice can build up when the pump pushes water through the system, risking buildups and ruptures. IceGuard is a simple attachment that requires no energy to function year-round.
