A Bowing Basement Wall
You can see in this picture that the top of the wall looks to be leaning back while the middle/lower part of the wall is leaning into the basement. This bowing is very bad and should be fixed immediately or it could get much worse.
Staircase Cracking in the Wall
This bowing wall also has a huge staircase crack across the entire wall. If you see any staircase cracking on a wall, be sure to give us a call because it means that the foundation is settling and could turn into this bowing wall if not fixed.
Cracking on Other Basement Walls
While this is not a big staircase crack, it is still a crack. Any type of crack in a wall is not a good thing and it could be a sign of a bigger issue. This crack combined with a bowing wall shows that the foundation of the whole house is settling and should be stopped before it gets worse.
Cracking Outside the House
This is another sign of a foundation settling. If you see cracks on the outside of your basement walls, it could mean you have cracking inside that might have gone unnoticed. Give us a call if you notice cracks outside of your home, we can fix a settling house before it becomes a major problem.
Installing GeoLock Channel Wall Anchors
We installed the GeoLock Channel Anchor System because its effective at stabilizing walls that are pushing in at the top or bottom, bowing, or tipping. The steel channels are secured to the floor for extra strength to stabilize the failing wall and hopefully help to return the wall to the original position.
Steel Earth Anchor
This is what the wall anchors look like on the other side of the wall. This earth anchor is attached to steel rods that are in durable, untouched soil which are then attached to the anchors on the wall in the last picture.
