Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Waterproofing and Stabilizing a Basement in Mason, MI

Our customers called once a few of their basement walls started bowing, but their problem had a much longer history. They'd moved into their home 40 years ago and the basement had had water problems almost the entire time. Basement finishing had to be ripped out due to damage and there was mold throughout the basement. First, we stabilized the walls using Geo Lock C-Channel wall anchors. Then, we installed WaterGuard below-floor drain system around the perimeter of the basement and tied it into a new TripeSafe sump pump that replaced the ancient sump in the basement. We replaced old windows with new custom windows built to keep water out and installed Brightwall panels on the walls to spruce up the basement and add another layer of waterproofing protection to the walls. Finally, we installed new inorganic, water-resistant flooring to avoid water damage and mold growth.

Ineffective Sump Pump

This hole in the ground is actually the existing sump pump in the basement. It just isn't powerful enough to keep up with the influx of water, and its open setup leaves it at risk for damage or clogging from debris.

We can bury the discharge line thanks to the special Lawnscape outlet at the end of the line. The outlet allows water to drain with the line underground and avoids clogs from dirt and debris.

IceGuard Prevents Winter Water Backups

In the event of a frozen discharge line, the IceGuard system allows water to escape through the grates rather than back up into the basement.

Concrete Restores Floor

Once everything is in place, new concrete is poured over the WaterGuard and around the new TripleSafe sump pump to restore the floor.

One of the biggest problems with basement finishes is that they're highly susceptible to water. Carpet, paneling - everything allows for water warping and mold growth. But, our ThermalDry flooring is both inorganic and waterproof, and beautiful to boot.
