Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Fremont, MI Home Gets New Waterproofing System

Many of the organic materials in this home's basement were falling apart due to moisture. The customer couldn't see standing water but since there was mold growth on the walls and floor we knew there had to be a water problem. After inspection, the customer decided on a below-floor WaterGuard system to fix their problem.

Faulty Drainage System

This drainage system is not very efficient. It goes through a window vent in the basement which allows more debris and moisture in. It's also not very appealing and can easily freeze in the winter which can cause more problems.

Moisture Causes Mold Growth

You can see on this wooden stairwell that mold has began to grow. Mold loves organic materials such as wood and will literally take over. This can make the floor weak and let's be real no one wants to fall through their staircase. You can also see the drywall that has been destroyed from the moisture and will need replaced.

Water Can Crack Basement Walls

The cracks and discoloration on this wall prove that water is leaking through. There are also signs of mold which can be very bad for your health and creates a musty smell.

Bad Sump Pumps Don't Do Their Job

This basement has a sump pump but it isn't doing much good. There is no perimeter system to ensure the water gets to it, so it relies on gravity to do the work. Also there isn't a lid so debris and other material can get in and the standing water can evaporate back into the air.

WaterGuard System Directs Water

We installed our WaterGuard System around the entire perimeter to ensure the whole basement is protected. The system is placed on top of the footing rather than alongside of it so mud and other materials can't get in.

Replaced Cracked Drywall with CleanSpace

We were able to take down the ruined drywall and replace it with our CleanSpace Wall system. This material is very durable and will drain water behind it so your basement can stay dry.

A Drainage System That Works

We removed the black tubing that was previously used to drain the water from the basement. We buried the new drainage system so it's more appealing and is easier to do yard work, such as mow the lawn.

No More Freezing Sump Pump Issues

After installing the new WaterGuard System throughout the basement this customer also had us install our IceGuard system. This fitting has holes in it so if the pipe freezes in the winter water can still exit through the holes at the top.
