Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Waterproofing a Greenville, MI Basement After Egress Installation

Our customers called after being a different company's customers last year, and getting an egress window installed. Said window was now leaking underneath and from the side, and they wanted an estimate on getting the basement waterproofed - for real this time. The problem was probably partially the egress installation and partially existing vulnerabilities to water problems that were exacerbated by the egress, but regardless, they needed a drainage system as well as a sump pump. We installed the WaterGuard below-floor drain system and tied it into a Super Sump with an extra long discharge line to avoid the landscape grading just funneling the water back into the basement. A well duct below the window will help channel the water from the egress, and a SaniDry XP dehumidifier will take care of any ambient moisture in the basement.

Note the water damage below the egress - this is a sign of an improperly installed window. We always say that if you want a basement window, you need to hire a basement company, because we're the only ones that can work below-grade properly. And we can avoid things like this.

We installed BrightWall on the affected wall - the wall panels are waterproof and can be tied right into the WaterGuard for draining. They're also just much prettier than that messy old block wall.

Discharge Line in Greenville Home

We installed an extra long discharge line to make sure the water is actually removed, and not just dumped into the yard so it can flow right back into the basement. We actually returned to this home just last week to bury the line once the ground thawed. Note the grate on the line in the foreground - that's IceGuard, and it allows the water an escape route in the event of a frozen line.
