Keeping Water Out of Dimondale, MI Basement
Challenge
This home was built in 1975 with block foundation walls. Clete and Petra B. had water coming into their basement and were looking for an effective solution that would solve their problem. The water was entering where the home’s water pipes met the basement wall.
Solution
In order to collect and drain all incoming water directly to the sump pump, we installed the WaterGuard system. WaterGuard is a drainage system that we installed around the interior perimeter of the basement. The installation started by removing sections of concrete surrounding the wall to place specialized pipes that will collect and drain water coming in through the walls. The pipes were placed on top of the footing to prevent the system from clogging and then the dug out trench was filled with crushed stone. When the installation was complete, we poured concrete over the trench so its like the system was never even installed. An inch of the system is left uncovered, located closest to the wall to ensure water can filter into the pipes.
