Waterproofing a Basement Laundry Room in Granger, IN
Challenge
A family in Granger, IN wanted to turn their dingy, wet basement into a place they could comfortably do their laundry and store their belongings. The leaks and puddles made it a place they wanted to avoid and they couldn't shake the uneasy feeling they had about keeping their possessions down there. Our challenge was to give this family the dry basement they deserved, and we knew exactly what would do the trick.
Solution
The first step was to install a TripleSafe system. TripleSafe is an exceptionally reliable sump pump that works to pump water out of the basement. The system includes three pumps; the two additional act as backups for the original pump in case of a power failure or an overwhelming amount of water.
IceGuard was installed on the discharge line outside of the house. Acting like a shield, IceGuard prevents the line from freezing over and clogging during the cold season. Preventing freezing stops any water from going back into the house to cause puddling or small floods. A LawnScape outlet, the drainage line for the sump pump, was placed outside and away from the house to expel any water from the basement into the yard. The outlet is discrete, and doesn't interfere with any outdoor landscaping.
The last step in this basement transformation was WaterGuard. Installed undernearth the perimeter of the concrete floor, the pipes work to prevent any puddling by directing the flow outside of the house. Once the concrete is poured back over, the system is hidden and your floor is good as new.
