Photo Album: Keeping Moisture Out of a Fruitport MI Crawl Space
Rod called us when he noticed wet spots in his dirt floor in the crawl space. The ground has always looked wet but this time there were spots in the sand the block wall was damp too. the entrance to the crawl space was open and he wanted it closed off as well as the crawl space encapsulated.
We used Drainage Matting, the CleanSpace Vapor Barrier, the SuperSump Plus, the SaniDry Sedona, CleanSpace vent Covers, and EverLast Doors to seal off the crawl space and keep it dry. By keeping the area dry, you protect the home and structure from mold and rot!
Drainage Matting creates a space between the ground and the liner as well as giving the water, if any leaks in, a channel to flow through to the sump pump. The CleanSpace liner creates a vapor barrier to keep out humidity, pests, and water vapor. The sump pump collects any water and sends it outside the home. The SaniDry dehumidifier blows dry air throughout and filters the air for mold spores or other small particles. Airtight crawl space vent covers install quickly, keep out pests and cold winter air, and helps with keeping the crawl space dry. Lastly, the Everlast door is made of inorganic material so it won't rot or rust. It creates an airtight, waterproof barrier!
Crawl Space Entrance
This small sliding window is the door to the crawl space. It is not sealed well so water, pests, or cold air can still get in the space. The homeowner wanted it to be sealed off to protect the crawl space and home.
Sealed and Protected
This is what the EverLast Door looks like on the outside and it creates an airtight seal to keep things out. The vent covers have a similar look to them- they blend into the wall and keep the crawl space closed off.
Wet Floors
The sand/dirt floor was wet which was an obvious sign of water in the crawl space. Rod did not want there to be water in the area so that he could protect his homes structure.
Drainage Matting
The black dimpled mats that are laid on the ground are Drainage Matting. The dimples in it create the channels for water to flow through and get directed to the sump pump.
Encapsulated and Clean
The final product- the liner, the SaniDry, and the new sump pump all help to keep the moisture and water out of crawl space. The liner creates a bright clean looking space too which could even be used for storage.
